The Value Of Human Generated Content

Why I Started Building Lived Lived Free

My original idea behind building this website was because I spent years studying all things off grid and self-suffiencent. I wanted to build a repository for the ideas I’ve been exploring.

Then I got distracted by trying to write articles to rank for Google search. I think this is a trap for most people building websites and blogs. You must rank on the search results or nobody will find your website. That’s the narative at least.

That leads to the first problem…

The First Problem

Most people building a website use similar techniques. We start by doing “keyword research”. We all search the same words and derivatives of those words. We then look at the “People also asked” section. This shows what others are asking about the keywords being searched. Then you look at the competitors and see what they’re doing. How many words they used. What headings. How often they used the keywords. On and on this goes. You can go crazy doing this level research.

It usually forces all the conversation about a subject, on different blogs/websites, to be laid out in a way that is similar and boring. I hate writing content like this. Worrying if it will rank based on some algorithm. I feel it produces websites nobody wants to read. We get the information we think we need and leave.

Then a second problem appeared…

The Second Problem

I joined OpenAi during the Covid lockdown. It offered the chance to be part of a small group testing a new Ai program. About a year later ChatGPT3 came out.

Because I had that early access I was able to start using it while others couldn’t get an account. I thought I was onto something huge. I wrote… or should I say I helped ChatGPT write over 200 articles. I even had it write calculators. More on those later.

After I wrote those articles, I uploaded them under Allen Iverson (Ai) so anyone reading my articles would know it was Ai generated. I thought of it as a great second writer for my website.

Then it hit me… nobody is going to use website! ChatGPT allows all questions to be answered and in most cases, in a more thourough way than most bloggers/website buiders. Human generated content was… is dead! That’s what I thought for the last year. I litterally walked away from my website, considering deleting my server and giving it up.

Then something occured to me…

Human Generated Content

I realized a problem with Ai. It often lies and it’s controlled by bias perimeters and algorithms. The bias in the programmers is being placed into the Ai and that controls the outcome. To maintain freedom of thought we must maintain human generated content. In fact, I believe human generated content will be more valuable than Ai generated content. When Ai can and will write most content, the only divergent ideas will be from actual humans.

In that light, I will no longer produce or publish Ai generated content on Live Lived Free. I will also delete any that I’ve added to this website when I was testing ChatGPT. From now on, you will only see content from humans I know created the articles. Most often it will be myself (Vince).

From now on, I’m not writing anything on this website for algorythms or using Ai. I want you, the reader to enjoy what you find here. I want you to find value in the content published here!
